Although the O’s don’t have a playoff quality team in 2011, they still can muster up some hits. The 11/12 team is led by power hitters Mark Reynolds and Adam Jones. The lowly O’s pitching contains some bright spots with Zach Britton and Jake Arrieta. The Orioles main team colours are black, orange, white and grey. The team was established in 1894 but have only been called the Baltimore Orioles since 1954. Baltimore is managed by Buck Showalter and owned by Peter Angelos. The Orioles play at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. They have won 3 World Series titles; in 1966, 1970 and 1983. The Birds have also won 7 AL Pennants, the most recent happened in 1983. Cal Ripken leads most batting catergories with 431 homers, 1695 RBI, 3184 hits and 1647 runs. Other leaders are George Sisler with a career .344 batting average, 135 intentional walks for Eddie Murray and George Sisler again with 351 stolen bases. Pitching wise the leaders are pretty well spread out. Harry Howell leads with a 2.06 ERA, Jim Palmer with 268 wins, Gregg Olson with 160 saves and Dick Hall with a 1.005 WHIP (walks and hits per innings pitched). You probably won’t see Baltimore in the playoffs anytime soon but you can always expect a pop from young guns like Zach Britton and Kyle Hudson.
