Coaching Change

There have been 5 coaching changes in the past month. Washington replaced Bruce Boudreau with Dale Hunter, St. Louis replaced Davis Payne with Ken Hitchcock (Columbus Blue Jackets former coach), Anaheim replaced Randy Carlyle with Washington’s former coach Bruce Boudreau, Carolina replaced Paul Maurice with Kirk Muller and the Los Angeles Kings replaced Terry Murray with John Stevens.  The longest-serving current coach of one team is Lindy Ruff of the Buffalo Sabres, he has been coaching since 1997. Behind him is Barry Trotz on the Nashville Predators who has been coaching since 1998. Trotz has been Nashville’s one and only coach. The most games coached is held by Scotty Bowman with 2141 games. The most games by a current coach belongs to Joel Quennville with 1081 games. Bowman has the most Stanley Cups as a coach too, with 9 cups. A team always needs a coach to run practices, give pep talks and to encourage the players.
